Churchyards

We are privileged to care for seven Churchyards within our Benefice – six of these are open for new burials and the interment of ashes.

The churchyard of St Mary’s Haddenham is closed to new burials and internments. There is permission to strew ashes and the Children’s area remains open.

The following people have a right to be buried in our open churchyards:

  • Residents of the relevant parish
  • Those whose names are on the church electoral roll
  • Those dying in the parish

Our Churchyards

They are places for reflection and memorial. They can be happy places for the celebration of love.

Churchyards operate under strict regulations for memorials, and we seek to comply with those rules while understanding the pastoral needs of those who are grieving. We seek to work with you so please contact the relevant clergy person and Churchwardens if you have a concern. We will pray with you and seek a way forward. We cannot give permission of memorials outside the regulations.
